I walked past this installation sometime in early June. Ball-Nogues Studio, the masterminds behind the installation, are located in East LA. As they explain, "A key technical concept for Cradle is “sphere packing” – the phenomenon where multiple balls squeeze together as they self organize under the effect of gravity."
For Memorial Day, I road tripped to San Diego with my high school friend Allyssa Camarigg, recent graduate of FIDM and her boyfriend, George Lind who just happened to have a show in "Normal Heights" as the drummer for Josiah Leming. The road trip became quite surreal as Allyssa and I recalled once having raved over the idea of living in California. Four years later, our raves have come true.

Miracle Mile
Perpendicular to Fairfax Avenue with eclectic shops, street vendors and restaurants, Miracle Mile, otherwise known as "Museum Row," was full of culture. The two mile stretch boasted various nationally recognized museums such as the LACMA, Peterson Automotive Museum, La Brea Tar Pits and Los Angeles Museum of Architecture and Design.
Of course I checked out the Los Angeles Museum of Architecture+Design
Two student projects were selected from each California accredited institute of Architecture and Design for exhibition at the A+D.

I loved how the spaces began with a concept. The top bracket was about an artist's studio-they took the palette and painting structure to guide the design moves. The final bracket's concept revolved around a candle. The designer took interest in the original candle structure and followed the process of the morphing wax due to the candle's burning lifespan.

My name is Dani and this is my blog.

This summer-maybe longer-blog will be to 1. share with all those close to me a California summer and 2. help in my search for a thesis in design. I've come to Los Angeles to intern for Hirsch Bender and Associates [http://www.hbadesign.com/] and after a week in this city, I've realized there is maybe more to pursue. More to pursue than the design of five star hotels; more to pursue in finding the end, the ultimate level of seeking of knowledge, opinion, explanation, thesis. This summer-maybe longer-blog will document my pursuit.
My sweet dad always drives me to the Nashville airport when I depart for varying adventures. My parents are so supportive and for that I'm forever thankful.
